Stephen Drew returns for his 3rd season with the Lowndes High School baseball staff bringing extensive experience from both the collegiate and professional levels of the game. A former Major League infielder, Drew played 14 professional seasons, including 13 years in Major League Baseball with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Washington Nationals. He was a member of the 2013 World Series Championship team with the Red Sox.

Before his professional career, Drew starred collegiately at Florida State University, where he earned All-American honors and was named ACC Player of the Year. He was selected 15th overall in the first round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Prior to Florida State, Drew was a standout player at Lowndes High School.

Drew’s experience at the highest levels of baseball provides Viking players with invaluable insight into player development, preparation, and competing at an elite level. He is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the field while developing a love and respect for the game.

 

Stephen and his wife, Laura, have four children: Hank, Nolan, Lainey, and Lyla.
